Help and support

For help, email michael@goliathmarketing.io. Include the job reference, what you were trying to do and the error reference. Do not send passwords or authentication secrets.

Connecting and opening the editor

Simple PDF is currently a private test release. Public self-service installation is not yet available. Contact support to arrange authorised test access; the account owner completes the connection using the supplied private installation instructions and reviews ServiceM8's OAuth permissions.

Once connected, use the desktop ServiceM8 Online Dashboard. Open a job, then choose More → PDF documents. Start from the job each time; refreshing the editor directly can lose its launch session.

Choose a document

Choose a starter service report, site inspection or customer handover and select Use starter for this job. This creates a saved working draft. Replace bracketed text before sharing; job and customer details are not filled automatically.

You can also use a business template, reopen this job's saved draft, load a PDF attached to this job, or open a PDF from your computer. Templates create separate working copies. Show library returns to document selection after a PDF opens.

Edit and save

Choose Edit text and open the text you want to change. Replace it, review the document and use Save draft to retain a working copy. Document name sets the name used for a new draft or template. Scanned PDFs do not automatically become editable text; compatibility depends on how a PDF was created.

Save PDF to this job adds a separate attachment to the same job and confirms that it was received. It does not replace the original attachment. Review all customer details before sending a finished PDF.

Understand the save status

Unsaved changes: save your working copy before closing. There is no autosave.

Draft saved: the working copy is stored. Job attachments are confirmed separately.

PDF added to job: that saved version was confirmed on this job. Editing again changes the status.

Upload not confirmed: retry the previously saved version. Newer open edits remain separate and need saving afterwards.

Template saved: the reusable master is saved; existing job copies remain separate.

Download / Save a copy saves a file to your device. Local file changed refers to that downloaded copy, independently of draft and job saves.

Business templates and staff access

Only staff enabled for template management can create or edit reusable masters. Review names, addresses and other customer details before saving a master. Contact support about template-management access during the private test.

If something goes wrong

If the surrounding ServiceM8 window changes size, save your draft, close the editor and reopen it to fit the new size. Browser close warnings are not a substitute for saving; ServiceM8 may close its popup without a warning.

If saving fails, keep the editor open and read the error. If upload confirmation is uncertain, use the saved-version retry instead of repeatedly adding new attachments. For an expired session, download a device copy where available before reopening the editor. Do not assume unsaved edits survive a browser crash.

The account_inactive reference means ServiceM8 is blocking API access for the connected account. Ask the account owner to check its ServiceM8 plan or billing status, or contact ServiceM8 support about developer/test access. This is separate from the price of this add-on.

For privacy requests or concerns, see the Simple PDF privacy policy. General PDF compatibility and public marketplace approval remain pending.
